Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo received the president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Akihiko Tanaka, at the State Palace complex here on Thursday.

"The JICA president is at the State Palace complex to discuss and support the maritime axis program with President Jokowi," National Development Planning Minister/National Development Planning Board chief Andrinof Chaniago said after accompanying the President to the meeting with Akihiko Tanaka.

Andrinof noted that JICA supported the maritime axis program that has been one of the priorities of the government of President Jokowi and Vice-President Jusuf Kalla.

But, he added, investment for the maritime axis program was not discussed in the meeting.

"The budget and details of the project have yet to be discussed," the minister remarked.

In the meantime, Akihiko Tanaka noted that he and President Jokowi discussed the maritime axis program and how to ensure that JICAs assistance and cooperation will be in line with the National Medium Term Development Plan that has been declared by the Indonesian government.

According to the JICA president, Jokowi wants to focus on interisland connectivity in Indonesia.
