Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda met President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) here on Wednesday.

Fukuda, at the head of a group of Japanese business leaders, is on a visit to Indonesia from May 26 to 28.

Fukuda is also scheduled to meet with Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Chief Economics Minister Sofyan Djalil, and Trade Minister Rahmat Gobel and would exchange views with the Indonesia-Japan Friendship Association.

Spokesman of Japanese embassy Kenichi Takeyama , Fukuda would discuss a number of topics such as expansion of Japans export oriented investment in Indonesia and cooperation in infrastructure development , human resources development and cultural exchanges.

Through the visit Japan hopes to promote economic relations between the two countries , Kenichi said.

He said Japan wants that relations with Indonesia should be merely as strategic partners but also to improver concerns for each other interests.(*)
