The Philippine delegation comprising 13 officials from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the attorney general's office arrived at the prison at 11:30 am local time.
Dwi Prasetyo Santoso, the head of the regional office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, stated after accompanying the delegation that they had merely visited the prison to meet a fellow citizen.
"It is just a regular visit. They just wished to express their sympathies to Mary Jane," he affirmed.
Dwi remarked that the official of the attorney general's office from the delegation also did not pay a visit with the objective of collecting information from Mary Jane in connection with a trafficking case currently being investigated in the Philippines affecting Mary Jane.
"The visit was not for collecting any testimony or information as new evidence," he clarified.
He noted that the main agenda of the Philippine delegation to Indonesia was an inter-government office exchange visit to Jakarta, and so, the prison visit was solely to meet fellow citizen Mary Jane.
During the 30-minute meeting, the Philippine delegation also did not leave anything for Mary similar to what Philippine professional boxer Manny Pac Man Pacquiau had done several weeks ago.
Mary Jane was scheduled to be executed along with the other death-row drug convicts early in 2015, but the implementation was postponed following the Philippine government's request in connection with Mary Kristina's confession that Mary Jane was a victim of human trafficking.
The case is currently still under investigation in the Philippines.
