Jakarta (ANTARA) - A researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has underlined the importance of forming a national talent pool database to identify women who have potential in politics.

In a seminar that was streamed live on YouTube on Friday, Siti Zuhro said that the formation of such a database would help strengthen women's role in Indonesian politics.

During the seminar entitled 'Strengthening Women's Role in Politics toward Equality Roadmap', she opined that women should hold leadership training for other promising women to prepare them for government jobs in the executive, legislative, and judiciary branches.

Such training could be given to promising women within the talent pool database and conducted by experts, especially women who have successfully landed government positions, she elaborated.

"Women who have succeeded, whether in executive, legislative, or judiciary branch, should work together hand in hand in order to drive the advancement of women to bolster the role of women in politics," Zuhro stressed.

The formation of this talent pool database is one of the steps that women could achieve to handle the problems that women encounter in their effort to be politically active, the researcher noted.

Such problems include the lack of networking between civilian organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and political parties to fight for women's representation, she highlighted.

Women should also improve efforts and make a move to build a women's community that bolsters women's role in politics, she said.

"Women group should build political power by formulating strategies, whether through regulations within the law or through existing networks," she asserted. (
