"If there is a problem in the field, find a solution, so that the investors could realize their investment. That is the job of the ministers," President Jokowi said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has reminded his ministers of their duty to find solutions to problems in order to meet the governments development targets.

"If there is a problem in the field, find a solution, so that the investors could realize their investment. That is the job of the ministers," President Jokowi informed the press after the official opening of an international convention and exhibition on geothermal energy, here, Wednesday.

Solutions must also be sought for any problem that may pose a hurdle in achieving the governments target of producing 35 thousand megawatts (MW) of electricity, he noted.

"Many people have said that the target to produce 35 thousand MW of electricity is very ambitious. But, this is the factual need, and therefore, the target is 35 thousand MW," the head of state affirmed.

"It is the job of a coordinating minister to find a solution, a way out, of any problem being faced by the investors," he added.

It would be possible to cut the target to five thousand MW, but the fact remains that the requirement is 35 thousand MW, and therefore, it should be the target, he explained.

"That is the need. If we do not achieve it, I will always see power blackouts while visiting the regions. Therefore, I always push for the implementation of the projects, including land acquisition in Batang. I and the vice president have to even conduct on-field checks," Jokowi remarked.

Every member of the working cabinet must be able to function optimally and achieve the targets set by the government, he stated.

The government has set a target to build new power plants in 240 locations across Indonesia until 2019, with a total capacity of 35 thousand MW.

"The program is part of the efforts to not depend on fossil fuel," Jokowi remarked in his keynote address while kicking off the mega project at Goa Beach, Cemara, Gadingsari, Sanden, Bantul, Yogyakarta, in May.(*)
