The government has also prepared a budget for the development of other airports ..."Bandarlampung (ANTARA News) - The government, through the Ministry of Transportation, has allocated Rp100 billion for the development of Raden Inten II airport in Lampung, Sumatra.
The airport is being developed in two stages, with the first phase being implemented between 2011 and 2017 on a 206-hectare plot of land and aims at accelerating the embarkation process for Hajj pilgrims, Sumarju Saeni, the spokesman of the Lampung provincial administration, noted here on Tuesday.
He revealed that the second stage, which is an extension phase, will be implemented from 2018 to 2030 and will cover an area of 198 hectares.
"The government has also prepared a budget for the development of other airports including the Kertajati airport, Blimbingsari, Dekai, and Bantu Kunik, among others," he added.
Sumarju remarked that the Lampung provincial government had committed to expediting the development of Raden Inten II airport in a bid to transform it into an international airport.
Hamartoni Ahadist, the second assistant for general affairs of the Lampung provincial administration, pointed out that the provincial government had granted several assets for implementing the airport extension plan.
