CAP plans to build the countrys first synthetic rubber factory for which the government has pledged tax holiday facility.
"That was what we said to the president , about tax holiday," Human Resources and Corporate Administration Director of the countrys largest petrochemical company Suryandi said after a meeting with President Joko Widodo here on Friday.
Suryadi said CAP told the president progress made in the capacity expansion plan of his company especially about investment in the synthetic rubber project.
"Especially about investment in project to be built with our partner tire producer Michellin in synthetic rubber factory with construction to start not later than next year," he added.
The synthetic rubber factory would be a pioneer industry which is entitled to tax holiday facility offered by the government.
"Proposal for the tax facility has been submitted but realization is not yet forthcoming. That was our complaint to the president," Suryadi said.
He said the foreign partner (Michellin) from France had repeatedly asked about the facility.
"We raised the issue in talks with the president hoping that he would help push up for its realization," he said.
The tax facility is already effective but so far only three companies have been granted it, he said.
CAP already meets all the criteria and the proposal has been processed at the finance ministry, he said.
He said CAP plans expansion of its production capacity by 43 percent, and with the expansion CAP asked for tax allowance.
He said the proposal for capacity expansion and tax allowance is being processed by the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).(*)
