Jakarta, November 9 (Antara) - In collaboration with the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources, The Oil & Gas Year (TOGY) is highlighting key investment opportunities across Indonesia’s energy value chain and identifying remaining hurdles and obstacles to facilitate investments into the country. Following completion of the project, an energy report entitled The Oil & Gas Year Indonesia 2016 will be released in Q12016, with the support of SKK Migas and the contribution of The Energy & Mines Society, Bimasena, the Indonesian Petroleum Association and the Indonesia Offshore and Shipbuilding Association.

“This book will be a comprehensive guide dedicated to Indonesia’s energy industry. The publication will notably address key topics including: Oil and Gas Development, expansion of the energy infrastructure, the evolving landscape of Indonesia’s mining and minerals industry, power generation and the 35,000MW programme. It will be vital to presenting Indonesia as an attractive place in the energy sector,” Teguh Pamudji, Secretary General at the MEMR said in a letter.

Following the one year of President Jokowi’s inauguration, TOGY will be holding two strategic Focus Group Discussions on November 12th to identify key problems and opportunities pertaining to Indonesia’s upstream and downstream industries. “The Oil and Gas Year’s focus group discussions will give the opportunity for top executives and officials to continue the strong dialogue started over the past year between industry leaders and new policy makers,”Mickaël Vogel, Country Director for TOGY in Indonesia said.

Organised with The Energy & Mines Society, Bimasena, and with the support of SKK Migas, the first focus group discussion will be held on the theme: “A Year of Joko Widodo’s Administration for Indonesia’s Oil & Gas Industry: Challenges, Prospects and Expectations.” Hosted by Bimasena Chairman Prof. Dr. Subroto, the event will have SKK Migas Chairman Amien Sunaryadi as a VIP participant. It will notably focus on the strategic importance of the year 2016 for Indonesia’s oil and gas industry, in light of the various reforms implemented by the Jokowi administration over the past year and the remaining issues and challenges impacting the sector. The event is strictly by invitation only.

As mentioned by Prof. Dr. Subroto, Chairman of the Mines and Energy Society,Bimasena, “while Indonesia finds itself caught on the wrong side of important shifts such as the slower growth of the Chinese economy and the lowering of commodity prices, it has ample experience in handling such turbulence. The country now needs to create greater investment and trade opportunities, greater investment in infrastructure, particularly in power and transportation. Bimasena intends to remain a key place to encourage dialogue and communication in these times of transition.”

The same day, a second strategic focus group discussion will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Jakarta, on the sidelines of the Refining & Petrochemicals Innovation Convention organized by Shanghai-based NIEC Group. Organized on the theme “Indonesia’s downstream industry: role, challenges and opportunities for private players”, the event will have Ir. G. N. Wiratmadja, Director General of Oil & Gas, as a VIP participant. It shall highlight the key downstream projects being undertaken by private Indonesian companies while highlighting the key challenges that remain to be addressed to incentivize private sector involvement in downstream infrastructure projects.
