I hope for greater consolidation among ministries."
Bogor (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called on his ministers to not implement overlapping programs, which could create polemics in the country.

"I want to stress here that (ministers) should avoid working on overlapping programs among ministries, so that public polemics indicating differences would not emerge," President Jokowi stated while chairing a cabinet plenary meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Monday.

The president affirmed that the differences should surface only in meeting rooms and cabinet sessions.

"I hope for greater consolidation among ministries," noted Jokowi.

The president emphasized that all ministers should work in tandem and cooperate as national development problems are generally interlinked among ministries, regions, and even nations.

Jokowi said that during the cabinet plenary session, he would individually assess the governments programs in an effort to expedite their implementation and to realize new breakthroughs.

"We have to take a cue from the 2014-2015 experience, so that all programs would be well-integrated and consolidated to be in line with the presidents vision and mission," remarked Jokowi.

The president urged his ministers to gauge the scale and strategy of the development priorities, which have a wide impact on the people and to seek new breakthroughs.

"I urge all ministers and heads of non-ministerial institutions to achieve bold and speedy breakthroughs. They should not become trapped in past habits of conducting business as usual," he stressed.

The ministers were also urged to continue to intensify communication and to be heedful to the peoples aspirations while executing their programs.

"The people must be involved. Their aspirations must be heard. They should be involved and heard in achieving breakthroughs and initiating changes," the president remarked.

Jokowi also called on his ministers to focus on five matters while carrying out their programs: economic growth, employment absorption and poverty rate, inflation, the peoples purchasing power, and the gini ratio.

"These five points must be prioritized. No matter how hard we work, if we do not focus on these five points, the work would be meaningless," the president pointed out.
