The KPK has a new chief and commissioners. Why should I not meet them?"Jakarta (ANTARA News) - During a meeting with the new leadership of the Indonesia Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan reaffirmed President Joko Widodos commitment to supporting the anti-graft body.
"I again state that the president is highly committed to supporting the KPK in its duties to become better in future," Minister Panjaitan stated here on Thursday.
He called on the commissioners to avoid confrontations with other legal enforcers while conducting their duties.
The minister claimed to have exchanged information on corruption cases with the KPK commissioners.
Minister Panjaitan was the first cabinet member to have met the five KPK commissioners following their inauguration in December 2015.
"The KPK has a new chief and commissioners. Why should I not meet them?" Panjaitan informed journalists shortly after arriving at the KPK building.
Agus Rahardjo, Basaria Panjaitan, Alexander Marwata, Saut Situmorang, and Laode M. Syarif are the commissioners who were officially inaugurated on December 21, 2015.
The anti-graft bodys commissioners had recently made a series of visits to top leaders of the countrys law enforcement bodies, such as the National Police, Attorney Generals Office, Judicial Commission, and Constitutional Court to strengthen their coordination and efforts to combat corruption crimes.
For instance, on January 4, the commissioners met Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti, while they visited Attorney General Agung H.M. Prasetyo on January 5.
On the following day, the KPK commissioners also met Acting Chief of the Judicial Commission Maradaman Harahap in addition to Constitutional Court Chief Arief Hidayat and the courts eight judges to offer support for the success of the public anti-corruption campaign.
The anti-graft bodys commissioners have currently been chalking out a corruption eradication roadmap as a guideline for the next four years.
