The overall level of advice has not changed."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Australian Government has issued a travel advice for its citizens traveling in Indonesia following a number of explosions that hit a business center area in central Jakarta on Thursday.
"Australians should avoid the affected area, limit their movements and follow the instructions of local authorities. The overall level of advice has not changed. We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in Indonesia, including Bali," the Australian Foreign Affairs and Trade Department said in a statement posted on its official website.
The Australian Government has also offered law enforcement and intelligence assistance to Indonesia following the deadly attacks in Jakarta.
"I have contacted my counterpart in Indonesia, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs H. E. Luhut B. Panjaitan, to convey Australias support," Senator and Attorney-General George Brandis QC, the leader of the Australian Government in the Senate, was quoted as saying in a statement released by the Australian embassy in Jakarta.
The offer followed a recent meeting between Brandis and Panjaitan at the Inaugural Indonesia-Australia Ministerial Council on Law and Security in which they agreed to closer operational and technical counter terrorism cooperation.
Earlier, the Australian Government condemned the attacks in Jakarta.
"Our Embassy is making urgent inquiries with local authorities to determine whether any Australians have been affected. This incident is still unfolding and it is too early to determine the scale of damage or extent of casualties. I have spoken to Indonesian Foreign Minister Marsudi and offered any support that Indonesia may need to respond to these attacks," Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop said in a statement.
