"The Indonesian people are so easily provoked into conflict, fighting and killing each other," Zulkifli Hasan said
Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Chairman of the Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan said Indonesia has lost its nationalism that the country is easily split into conflicting groups.

One of the tasks of MPR is to watch over the countrys constitution, but after the reign of reform Indonesia has lost the spirit of nationalism, Zulkifli said.

"The Indonesian people are so easily provoked into conflict, fighting and killing each other," he said, speaking before hundreds of students taking part in a National Deliberation of Indonesian Student Legislative Institution Forum, here on Monday.

Groups of people compete against each other that the country now lack the spirit of mutual assistance, togetherness and dialog, that have characterized the countrys democracy, he said.

"We have lost sensitiveness and brotherhood as a nation," he added.

Therefore, all components of the nation need to unite to revive nationalism especially among the younger generation, he said.

Indonesia needs to regain its identity and massive socialization is needed to revive the spirit of nationalism, he added. (*)
