Presidential Special Staff for Communication Johan Budi Sapto Pribowo remarked at the presidential office here on Wednesday that President Jokowi was also keen to receive updates on the case involving the two former KPK leaders, Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto.
"Either today or tomorrow, the president will call the attorney general in order to obtain a complete report on the cases of Baswedan, Samad, and Widjojanto," Budi remarked.
The case of Samad and Widjojanto is currently being handled by the prosecutor after the investigative files were declared complete.
Samad was suspected of involvement in counterfeiting population data, while Widjojanto was suspected of influencing a witness to lie during the Constitutional Courts hearing disputes.
Baswedan was accused of being responsible for the killing of a birds nest thief in Bengkulu in 2004 when he headed the Bengkulu city polices detective unit.
In February 2004, several policemen arrested six suspects in a case involving the theft of a birds nest. One of the suspects was shot dead at Panjang Ujung Beach of Bengkulu city.
As a result, a resident named Yogi Hariyanto filed a case against Baswedan with the police on February 18, 2004.
On October 5, 2012, the Bengkulu provincial polices investigators, along with several police personnel from the Bengkulu and Jakarta metropolitan police, arrived at the KPK building to arrest Baswedan.
At the time, Baswedan was handling the polices driving simulator procurement case for the 2011 budget.
The KPK commissioners denied the allegation that Baswedan was involved in the killing.
Instead, according to the anti-graft body, Baswedan accepted full responsibility for his mens actions that resulted in the death of the birds nest thief, and the KPKs Honorary Ethic Council had even grilled and reprimanded him.(*)
