"The IDI experts opinion is needed to explain the standard operational procedures (SOP) of the kidney donation process out of which two possibilities will arise, which are violating the code of ethics or law," Head of the Trafficking Unit of the Indonesian National Polices Detective Division Adjunct Senior Commissioner Arie Darmanto noted.
In this case, the police had detained only three suspects identified as HS alias H, AG alias A, and DD. HS was arrested in Jakarta for his alleged role as an agent, who functioned as the link between the donors and hospitals, while the two other suspects were arrested in Bandung, West Java Province, for their alleged involvement in recruiting organ donors.
In an effort to uncover the case, the police had conducted an investigation on a medical record department of the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM) in Central Jakarta, one of the three hospitals suspected of conducting kidney transplants in Indonesia.(*)
