Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An Indonesian ulema, KH Hasyim Muzadi, will be talking about the contents of the Charter of Madinah at a forum organized by Al Wariseen Trust at the Mosque of Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, Putra Jaya, Malaysia, according to a statement received by ANTARA here on Monday.
The Madinah Charter, Hasyim added, discusses the issues of brotherhood among Muslims, interfaith brotherhood, law enforcement, economic equality and state defense.
The Madinah Charter was set up by Prophet Muhammad in the first year of the Hegira, or in 622 AD.
The Madinah Charter can be referred to as the first written constitution in the world that contains the Islamic Sharia.
Hasyim, who currently serves as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council, also explained that emulating the Prophets life is a form of love that should be inculcated in every Muslim.
The main points included in the surah, among others, have to do with the science of religion, proof of the truth of religion, and the science of nature. "Science and faith must be combined," Hasyim noted.
"It is expected that personal piousness can be transformed and developed into social piousness. This has been exemplified by the Prophet in the lives of families, communities and nations. The basics can be seen in the Madinah Charter," he added. (*)
