Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Attorney General office denies shelving investigation of the case of "Papa Asks for Shares" involving former House Speaker Setya Novanto.

Setya Novanto, who resigned as House speaker because of the case, was charged with "evil conspiracy" misusing the name of President Joko Widodo in asking for shares of the U.S. mining company PT Freeport Indonesia.

The process of investigation still continues, Junior Attorney General Arminsyah told ANTARA News Agency here on Wednesday.

Arminsyah did not say what caused the delay in the process of investigation .

Earlier Attorney General HM Prasetyo said the investigators were still collecting more evidence.

The attorney general office has said the disappearance of Riza Chalid, a key witness for the case had hampered the process of investigations of the Setya Novanto case.

Arminsyah, however, refused to acknowledge but did not deny that investigations have been hampered with the disappearance of Riza Chalid, who was present when Setya Novanto made the share request to the president director of Freeport.

Riza Chalid, a businessman, was known to have left the country when the attorney general office began investigation of the case.(*)
