Later, this form of openness will become more drastic in 2018. All international banks will completely be open," Jokowi stated.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) views the global competition and openness in information systems as major challenges to Indonesias economy in the future.
"Later, this form of openness will become more drastic in 2018. All international banks will completely be open," Jokowi stated in a dialog organized by the Indonesian Economic Scholar Association here, Wednesday.
This form of openness will be supported by the advancements in social media, particularly in the field of digital economy.
The Indonesian government needs to accelerate the regulations related to the digital economic sector to manage the swift progress.
"We also face global competition that we cannot overlook and cannot say no," the president affirmed.
The government needs to conduct a serious evaluation before deciding to join any economic cooperation block by taking into account the losses and benefits, he added.
"We have to prioritize the nations interests. We have been implementing the ASEAN Economic Community, and no longer will, but we have already faced it," he noted.
Therefore, the government plans to develop infrastructure to attract investment to Indonesia, particularly in the regions, he emphasized.
The government is currently constructing seaports in the eastern Indonesian regions and toll roads and railway lines in Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua.(*)
