"For instance, we will attend the 9th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP) Meeting on 21-23 April, 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia," House Speaker Ade Komaruddin said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A delegation of the House of Representatives will attend the meetings and conferences of regional parliamentary organizations, this contributing to robust functioning of parliamentary diplomacy.

"For instance, we will attend the 9th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP) Meeting on 21-23 April, 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia," House Speaker Ade Komaruddin said at the plenary session here on Wednesday.

The meeting is aimed to harmonize the agenda of Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership with the agenda of the government.

"The meeting will produce a Declaration of the 9th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting. This declaration is expected to strengthen cooperation between the countries of Asia and Europe," Komaruddin stated.

The ASEP meeting is part of the overall Asia-Europe partnership process, and serves as a forum for inter-parliamentary contacts, exchanges and diplomacy among parliaments. It also helps promote mutual understanding among the people and countries of Asia and Europe. The ASEP meetings shall normally be convened on a regular bi-annual basis alternately in Asia and in Europe before the ASEM Summit.

He remarked that the House will send a delegation to attend the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Meeting on 26-27 April, 2016 in Teheran, Iran.

Komaruddin revealed that social and cultural issues in Asia will be discussed in the session.

"The output of this session will be discussed in the Executive Council Meeting of the APA," he said.

Recently, the House of Representatives had sent a delegation to the 135th Assembly Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Lusaka, Zambia.

During the hearing, the House made clear the position of Indonesia.

"So far, young people have demonstrated their role as creative and innovative groups. The Parliament needs to formulate a policy which encourages young generation in the democratic era," he said.

The Indonesian House of Representatives, as chairman of the Global Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), will also launch a national chapter.

Therefore, he asked the members of the House of Representatives to jointly mobilize the anti-corruption movement.(*)
