Although the reclamation permits have no expired date ..."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) said on Thursday permits for 17 reclamation projects in the Jakarta Bay can be extended every year.

"Reclamation permits have no expired date and can be extended every year. If the reclamation projects cannot be completed within one year, the permits can be extended," Ahok, as the Jakarta governor is popularly called, said at the City Hall here.

However, if developers cannot fulfill requirements, the permits can be revoked, he said.

"Although the reclamation permits have no expired date and can be extended every year, if the developers do not meet requirements, the permits can be revoked," he said.

He said the 17 reclamation projects in the Jakarta Bay can be continued despite the fact that the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) has refused to continue deliberation on the draft bylaw regarding the site map of coastal areas and islets in Jakarta province.

After all, the developers cannot construct buildings on the reclaimed islands pending the passage of the draft bylaw into bylaw.

"To construct buildings on the reclaimed islands they have to await the passage of the draft bylaw into bylaw. If they have not been passed into bylaw the developers are not allowed to set up buildings on the reclaimed islands," he said.
