Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A man, identified by the initials Jun and allegedly part of the China-Hong Kong drug network, was shot dead by an Indonesian Narcotics Agencys (BNNs) officer during a raid in Cakung, East Jakarta, Thursday afternoon.
Several thousand ecstasy pills were seized during the raid, Deputy Head of BNN in charge of eradication Ins. Gen. Arman Depari stated here, Friday.
The BNN had earlier detained LWS, a Taiwanese national, for possessing 2,460 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
The BNN had received a tip-off on a drug smuggling attempt from the Halim Perdana Kusuma customs and exercise officers who suspected a package from abroad was arriving for someone in Tangerang, Banten.
When the officers examined the package, they found a UPS with two tea sets containing the meth.
The agency in Berau, East Kalimantan, recently also foiled an attempt to smuggle meth from Malaysia.
On April 4, 2016, the authorities chased a courier smuggling meth from Malaysia into Samarinda, the capital of East Kalimantan.
The courier, 31-year-old HEN, was finally arrested.(*)
