"Yesterday, we discussed defense cooperation in its wider context, covering not only the purchase of weapon systems and equipment but also other issues linked to the transfer of technology and the development of human resources, among others," Marsudi noted after attending a business meeting at the Radisson Blu Hotel here on Thursday.
The foreign minister emphasized that defense cooperation was one of the issues discussed between the leaders of the two countries during the meeting.
Other sectors covered during the meeting included trade, investment, tourism, infrastructure, and maritime, she remarked.
President Jokowi and his Russian counterpart had discussed defense cooperation covering information exchange as well as technology transfer related to the purchase of weaponry.
"President Putin and I have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of defense. Just now, we also discussed cooperation for the transfer of technology, joint production, education, and training," President Jokowi stated at a joint press conference on Wednesday evening.
On Thursday morning, President Jokowi received a courtesy call from several Russian businessmen, including Oleg Belozerof, the executive director of Russian Railways; Aleksandr Sergeevich Isaev, the executive director of Blackspace Group; Maxim Sokov, the executive director of En+ Group; and Alexander Popov, the executive director of Vi Holding Group.
Several companies have lauded President Jokowi for having given them an opportunity to hold discussions.
President Jokowi is currently in Sochi to attend the ASEAN-Russia Summit on May 19-20. (*)
