Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Pertamina said it hopes to save US$200 million under its efficiency program by reducing losses in oil stream in 2016.

President director of the state-owned oil company Dwi Soetjipto said cut in losses is the main target of improvement in oil stream management (PTKAM).

"We appreciate the PTKAM breakthrough by Pertamina workers. The breakthrough was recognized by the stakeholders," Dwi said in the PTKAM summit 2016.

At the summit, Dwi presented award to workers taking part in 13 important actions to prevent or mitigate supply losses.

He said in 2015, efficiency by cutting losses in oil stream was worth US$255.2 million.

"This year the target was set at US$105 million but if the performance could be maintained, the efficiency value could be raised to US$200 million," he said.

He said efficiency is not only by cutting capital spending, or laying off workers.

Pertamina has shown anomaly from the general situation in oil and gas industry.

"Other companies choose to lay off workers. Pertamina does not. No one believes but that is what has happened. The management and the workers agree to struggle to look for other ways of efficiency such as by cutting losses," he said.

Human resources director of Pertamina Dwi Wahyu Daryoto said in 2015, there was a cut in losses to only 0.34 percent far below the maximum limit of international tolerance of 0.5 percent.

In 2016, Pertamina set the target for losses at only 0.2 percent or efficiency value of US$105 million.

However, in the past four months , there was positive trend in reducing losses to 83 percent of the annual target in efficiency value.

"In April, level of losses even already reached the level of 0.19 percent. With this trend we are confident by June the annual target would be reached and by the end of the year we are optimistic efficiency value would reach US$200 million," he said.

Meanwhile, deputy for prevention of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Pahala Nainggolan said the anti graft agency has asked Pertamina to play as the role model for the state companies in fighting corruption.

Pertaminas PTKAM program could a role model for other companies or sectors.

"KPK will ask Pertamina that the agency could study in greater details its method of cutting losses to be introduced to the upstream sector where level of losses is still high at 0.5 percent. We will continue to cooperate with Pertamina to produce replica of the process PTKAM for other state companies or other sectors," he said.
