Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Tinombala Police and Military Operation to capture terrorist leader Santoso in Poso, Central Sulawesi, will continue during the fasting month of Ramadan, according to National Police spokesman Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar.

"During the Ramadan fasting month, the Tinombala operation will continue. The combined task force is still on the lookout for Santoso and his followers," Boy remarked at the National Police Headquarters here on Tuesday.

The spokesman revealed that during the fasting month, several policemen will be patrolling mosques and other public facilities considered vulnerable in Poso in order to offer security to the Muslims, who were fasting.

"The Tinombala operation aims to capture Santoso and his followers and to ensure public security and safety in Poso during the fasting month," he noted, adding that until the second day of fasting, the situation had become conducive.

The police have conducted the Camar Maleo Operation I to IV to hunt Santoso and his group, but until now, they remain at large.

After the Camar Maleo Operation ended, the police continued their pursuit by cooperating with the Military through the Tinombala Operation, which was launched on January 10, 2016.

The Tinombala operation, which was originally scheduled to take place for 60 days, was later extended by two months after it ended on March 10, 2016.
