Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry seized seven Vietnam-flagged fishing boats for poaching in the countrys waters.

"Patrol boat Orca 003 herded the seven illegal Vietnam-flagged boats with 55 crew members of Vietnamese nationality to Natuna, Riau Islands, on June 12, 2016," Waluyo Sejati Abutohir, secretary of the ministrys Directorate General for Maritime and Fishery Resources Supervision, said here, Monday.

The seven boats comprising six weighing around 100GT and one 60GT, were caught in the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zones (ZEEI) in Natuna waters, Riau Islands, June 10.

The boat and its crew were apprehended while fishing using pair trawls in the waters without legal documents from the Indonesian government. (*)
