One of the most serious threats is cyberterrorism."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Synergy among relevant ministries and state institutions is needed to conduct counterterrorism efforts, according to Chief of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Commissioner General Suhardi Alius.
"The problem of terrorism is very complex, so it needs cross-sectoral handling and the involvement of various stakeholders in accordance with their respective tasks and functions," Alius said in a statement here, Monday.
Alius made the statement while attending a special coordination meeting chaired by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister Wiranto.
The meeting was attended by representatives of 17 ministries and state institutions. The representatives also discussed and evaluated the implementation of the International Meeting on Counter-Terrorism held in Bali on August 10, 2016.
"One of the most serious threats is cyberterrorism. This could not be handled by the BNPT alone, as it needs other ministries, particularly the Communication and Informatics Ministry," he noted.
Terrorism could no longer be dealt with through partial-sectoral efforts, as the potential of the threat is high, he noted.
"During the special coordination meeting, there was a clear direction concerning cross-sectoral synergy for carrying out counter-terrorism efforts," he remarked.
The meeting was attended by Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara and representatives from the religious affairs ministry, justice and human rights ministry, manpower ministry, social affairs ministry, education and culture ministry, home affairs ministry, youth and sports ministry, the Indonesian Defense Forces, National Police, and the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center, among others.
