Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The House of Representatives (DPR) has received a letter from President Joko Widodo, nominating Commissioner General Budi Gunawan as new chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) to succeed Sutiyoso.

The letter was delivered by Minister/State Secretary M. Pratikno to House Speaker Ade Komaruddin at the Parliament Building, here, Friday.

After receiving the letter, the DPR leadership held a meeting to follow up on the letter, Komaruddin remarked.

A meeting of DPR factions will be held to discuss the nomination next week, on Sept. 5.

Commission I of the Parliament will conduct a fit and proper test on Gunawan.

The replacement of the BIN chief is just a normal procedure and a step to breathe new life into the organization, Minister Pratikno explained.(*)
