He made the remark in response to the speech made by President Park Geun-hye of South Korea at the 18th ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit in Vientiance, Laos, on Wednesday.
Considering the concerning situation in the Korean peninsula at present President Jokowi as he is also called said it was important for countries to honor tolerance and mutual respect.
"I emphasized the importance of self-exercise and prevent provocations. I think North Korea must respect all resolutions of the UN Security Council with regard to de-nuclearization process in Korean Peninsula," he said.
Based on latest reports situation in the Korean peninsula is tense again after North Korea fired three missiles to the sea from the eastern coast on Monday (September 5). according to the South Korean military.
The incident happened in the midst of G20 meeting in China which is the main diplomatic ally of Pyongyang.
The three missiles were fired from a location south of the capital in the evening local time and flew around 1,000 km to reach Japans defense identification zone, according to the office of the chief of staff of the South Korea armed forces.
"We are still analyzing details of the incident but this is a big threat to our security. We are very concerned," it said in a statement.
The firing of the three missiles was the latest of a series of missile launches by North Korea this year and this has violated a number of resolutions of the UN Security Council that have banned all missile activities by Pyongyang.
North Korea has rejected the ban considering it as a violation of its national sovereignty to develop self-defense and outer space programs.
South President Park Geun-hye and Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe met on the sidelines of G20 and had agreed to jointly monitor the situation, according to a statement from Japan.
The South Korean military believed the missiles were of Rudong type with a medium range and they accused North Korea of doing it as a show of force in connection with the G20 meeting.(*)
