"We know, Jakarta ranks number one in national drug abuse. If a city ranks at the top, then all should be aware that there are still many drug users (in Jakarta)," the head of BNN's Public Relations Department, Senior Commissioner Slamet Pribadi stated here on Thursday.
According to him, the (candidates) in their vision and mission, should incorporate the matter of drug prevention and drug eradication, in the model of the campaigns.
Slamet further said combating drugs is very important. Jakarta is a barometer for the nation and also an indicator of about 60 percent of the drug money is circulated in Jakarta, he noted.
"Automatically, the purchase of drugs in Jakarta is very high," he remarked.
Three pairs of the candidates have registered with the KPU to contest the election for Jakarta Governor and Deputy Governor scheduled for February 2017.
They include current Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat, who were nominated by the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP), the National Democrat Party (Nasdem), the Golkar Party and the Hanura Party.
The other pairs of candidates are Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the son of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Jakartas Deputy Governor for Tourism Sylviana Murni as his running mate, who were nominated by the Democrat Party, the United Development Party (PPP), the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the National Mandate Party (PAN), and former Education Minister Anis Baswedan and businessman Sandiaga Uno, who were nominated by Gerindra and PKS.(*)
