"We have set ourselves the target of attracting 25,000 visitors this year, compared to 20,000 visitors last year," Director of Technology and Defense Industry of the Defense Ministry, Brigadier General Jan Pieter Ate, said here on Wednesday.
He explained that the target was set on the basis of the number of exhibitors that rose by 25 percent to 844 this year from 672 in 2014.
The Indo Defense Expo is one of Southeast Asias biggest such events on defense, aerospace and marine industry. The expo will be a ground breaking event that will spearhead the development of defense industry, aerospace, security services, marine technology and applications in the region.
Over 844 companies from 55 countries and 30 pavilion countries, including Germany, India, Italy, Australia, South Korea, France, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Belarus, Indonesia, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Slovak will take part in the expo.
Major companies such as Airbus, Yugoimport, Damen Schelde, SAAB, Rheinmetall, Lockheed Martin, Otokar, Indonesia state railway firm PT KAI, state-owned aircraft maker PT. Dirgantara Indonesia, and state-owned arms producers PT. Pindad will join the four-day expo.
Ate expressed the hope more cooperation agreements will be signed by stakeholders involved in the expo.(*)
