If they are not continued, I will bring them to the KPK."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has threatened to report managers of stalled projects, particularly power plants to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"If they are not continued, I will bring them to the KPK," he said while chairing a limited meeting on progress achieved in the construction of power plants with a total capacity of 35,000 MW at the Presidential Office here on Tuesday (Oct. 1)
The president felt it necessary to continue the projects because they involved a huge amount of funds and budget. However, he had not received certainty about the matter.
He said he had asked for reports from the State Comptroller (BPKP) about 34 electricity power plants which have come to a standstill since 8 to 9 months ago.
"The projects involve trillions of state funds. We cannot let them remain as they are. Can they be directly proceeded. When I looked at one and two projects in the field it seems that they have been damaged. There must be certainty about these," she said.
He further said the progress achieved in the construction of 35,000 megawatt-capacity power plants also fell short of the target.
He said 71 out of 109 projects are still in the stage of planning and procurement.
