The success was achieved by the police of Pontianak District, West Kalimantan Province.
The Chief of West Kalimantan Police Office, Inspector General Musyafak, informed here on Monday that two Malaysian nationals, Khong Yiau Hieng (35) and Lee Sing Chua (33), were arrested from a house in LHW Hasyim, Gang Amal, No.62, Pontianak Kota Subdistrict on Sunday at 05:20 p.m. local time. Both have been named as suspects.
The authorities seized from the two suspects 18 kg of meth crystal, hidden inside a spare tyre of an SUV with license plate number B 11 DIH.
Investigations showed the contraband was to be delivered to a buyer named Darmadi (55), a resident of West Pontianak sub-district.
"At dawn on Monday, the police raided the house but Darmadi had escaped," Musyafak disclosed.
While fleeing, the suspect abandoned three sacks containing 24,000 G-listed pills of Happy Five, the police chief revealed.
The two arrested suspects now face up to life imprisonment and a fine of Rp8 billion for trafficking in drugs.(*)
