"This is the evidence, that within two days since it was initiated, everyone is united. Everyone has contributed to what they could. How beautiful it is across Indonesia," Nurmantyo said in the National Monument (Monas) here on Wednesday.
As the initiator of the gathering, the TNI Commander expressed his gratitude to every person participating in the event. The participants included students, youths, religious prominent figures, traditional prominent figures and other elements of the society.
Among VIPs attending the assembly were National Police Chief Tito Karnavian, Social Affairs Minister Indar Parawansa, acting Jakarta Governor Sony Sumarsono, Habib Nabil of Majelis Rasulullah SAW mass organization, daughter of former president Yenny Wahid, youth organization AMPI Chairman Dito Ariotedjo and Chairman of the Central Java Ulemas Council M Lutfi bin Ali Yahya.
Various traditional dance and singing performances were organized to enliven the event.
Most people attending the event were wearing red and white headbands.
Similar events were organized simultaneously in cities across Indonesia.(*)
