On Sunday, the number of visitors was 6,438 (comprising 6,399 domestic tourists and 39 foreign tourists), while on Saturday, there were only 2,934 (2,912 domestic tourists and 22 foreign tourists), Upun Punijar, an officer of the Bogor Botanical Garden, said here, Monday.
Because there was an Indonesian Fruit Carnival being held in the Garden on Sunday, the number of vehicles entering the Garden was limited.
Located in the heart of Bogor City, the Bogor Botanical Garden is a plant conservation center open to tourists, as well as domestic and foreign researchers.
The ticket costs Rp15 thousand for domestic tourists and Rp25 thousand for foreigners.
The venue is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. However, during heavy rains and windy weather, the Garden closes early to ensure the safety of visitors because it is home to many large old trees.
The countrys oldest botanical garden is spread across 87ha, facing the impressive out-of-town Bogor Presidential Palace, with the soaring Mt. Salak for a backdrop.
It boasts over 400 species of palm trees, 5,000 trees gathered from around the tropical world, and an orchid house containing 3,000 varieties. Records show that the Bogor Botanical Gardens harbours 3,504 plant species, with 1,273 genera in 199 families.
