Thank God, I am very happy and pleased for being able to give a comprehensive clarification."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has again summoned House Speaker Setya Novanto as a witness in an electronic identify card (e-ID) corruption case.

"This is to follow up (on the previous summon), as some things are still lacking. I leave it all on the investigators," Novanto, concurrently general chairman of the Golkar Party, stated at the KPK building here, Tuesday.

He was accompanied by Rudy Alfonso, head of Golkars law and human rights department, and Nurul Arifin, head of the partys media affairs department.

This is the second time that the KPK has summoned Novanto after the first one on December 13, 2016, in connection with the case that occurred during the November 2011-2012 period, when he was the Golkar Party treasurer and concurrently head of the partys faction in the Parliament.

"Thank God, I am very happy and pleased for being able to give a comprehensive clarification," Novanto said on December 13, 2016.

Novanto had denied that members of Commission II of the House of Representatives had received bribe money for the e-ID project.

In addition to Novanto, the KPK had summoned Democratic Partys former general chairman Anas Urbaningrum and former treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin in connection with the same corruption case.

The KPK has named two suspects in the e-ID corruption case: former director general of population and civil administration of the Home Affairs Ministry Irman and Population Administration Information Manager of the Home Affairs Ministry Sugiharto.

According to the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency, the state incurred losses reaching some Rp2.3 trillion owing to a mark up in the e-ID project that cost some Rp6 trillion.

Nazaruddins lawyer Elza Syarif had once said that according to her client, the e-ID card project was controlled by Novanto and Urbaningrum and implemented by Nazaruddin, Adi Saptinus (staff of PT Adhi Karya), and the then home affairs minister Gamawan Fauzi, among others.
