Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Military (TNI) Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo has proposed three names to President Joko Widodo as the potential candidates to replace Indonesia Air Force Chief of Staff (KASAU) Marshall Agus Supriatna.

"I have proposed three names of candidates to replace the KASAU who will retire. These candidates are all three-star (officers)," General Nurmantyo stated at the TNI headquarters in Cilangkap, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

The proposed candidates are Air Marshal Bagus Puruhito, who is serving as vice governor of the National Resilience Institute; Air Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto, who is currently inspector general of the Ministry of Defense; and Air Marshall Hadiyan Sumintaatmadja, who is currently the Air Force deputy chief of staff.

Air Marshall Felicianus Henry Bambang Soelistyo, who heads the National Search and Rescue Agency, was not named as one of the candidates, as he would retire next month, Nurmantyo stated.

The TNI chief said he could not ascertain who would be the strongest candidate for the post of Air Force chief of staff, adding that the decision will be taken by the president.(*)
