"G20 member states take responsibility for being part of the solutions to various global complex challenges," Retno Marsudi affirmed.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - G20 countries should contribute to creating a more secure, stable, and prosperous world, according to Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

"G20 countries have common responsibilities and interests to create a more secure, stable, and prosperous world," she noted in a press statement of the Foreign Ministry released on Saturday.

The minister made the remarks during a session of the G20 foreign ministers meeting held in Bonn, Germany, on Friday. The session highlighted the maintenance of peace in a complex world.

The minister noted that the global situation has become increasingly complicated and uncertain due to rampant disputes, conflicts, human tragedies, terrorism, populist sentiments, and Islamophobia in several countries.

Retno Marsudi said the clash of national interests among countries should not necessarily lead to a rift or conflict. Hence, comprehensive approaches are needed to resolve any conflict peacefully, she added.

"G20 member states take responsibility for being part of the solutions to various global complex challenges," Retno Marsudi affirmed.

The minister also highlighted the importance of the UNs role in helping maintain global peace and stability.

Marsudi further urged G20 member states to increase their support to the UNs role by ensuring precise, sufficient, and sustainable funds for the organizations peace maintenance efforts, among others.

The minister also spoke of the threat of terrorism, which has become increasingly real, serious, and widespread.

There is no single state in the world that is free from the threat of terrorism, the minister said, adding that 93 countries have borne witness to terrorist attacks.(*)
