It is Karen (Pertamina) that provided funds for the procurement of the electric cars."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Attorney Generals Office (AGO) has questioned former president director of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina Karen Agustiawan as a witness in a graft case related to the procurement of electric cars.
Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Arminsyah confirmed on Thursday that Karen was interrogated on Wednesday (Mar 22).
Currently, investigators are tracing the flow of funds from Pertamina, state gas company Perusahaan Gas Negara, and state lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia for the procurement of the electric cars, he revealed.
Hence, the investigators deemed it necessary to question Karen.
"It is Karen (Pertamina) that provided funds for the procurement of the electric cars," he said.
The AGO has named former state enterprises minister Dahlan Iskan and director of PT Sarimas Ahmadi Pratama Dasep Ahmadi as suspects in the alleged graft case.
Dasep was later found guilty and sentenced to seven years in jail and fined Rp200 million, or face an additional prison term of six months based on the Supreme Courts verdict.
In its ruling, the Supreme Court noted that the former state enterprises minister had been involved in the graft case related to the procurement of electric cars for delegates of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit held in Bali in 2013.
Dahlan objected to the ruling naming him as a suspect in the case. He later filed a pretrial motion with the South Jakarta district court. However, the court had rejected the pretrial motion.
