Each was paid Rp5 million per delivery."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesia National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has seized 11 kilograms of methamphetamine from China but smuggled via Malaysia into Pontianak in West Kalimantan Province.
"The form of this methamphetamine is bigger, similar to lumps of sugar. The new packaging is intended to deceive officers, including those from the police, BNN, and excise," Commissioner General Police Budi Waseso, chairman of BNN, stated here, Monday.
The agency arrested 31-year-old GUS and 21-year-old WAH when they were delivering the meth to 50-year-old A in Pontianak.
A was shot by the officers as he tried to flee during the arrest and died on the way to the hospital.
"According to GUS, he had smuggled meth eight times this year, while WAH had done it thrice. Each was paid Rp5 million per delivery," Waseso revealed.
WAH and GUS are drug couriers who had smuggled meth from Kuching, Serawak State, Malaysia, into Pontianak through the Entikong border.
The drug couriers could be awarded capital punishment in line with Indonesias Law No 35 of 2009.
Indonesia has become a target market for some 70 international drug syndicates from 11 countries, with China as the major supplier, followed by Malaysia, Nigeria, and Iran.
