Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana Jokowi arrived ib Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday to attend the Arab Islamic-American Summit.

The presidential plane Indonesia One which carried the president and entourage arrived at Salman Air Base, Riyadh at 20.30 p.m. local time, Antara observed.

The president arrived in the Saudi capital after flight of more than nine hours from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta. The plane made a stopover at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Aceh province for refueling at 03.36 p.m. local time and continued its flight at 04.51 p.m.

Riyadh Vice Governor Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz greeted President Jokowi and entourage upon arrival at Salman Air Base. Also greeting the president was Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Agus Maftuh.

The presidents entourage included Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Military Secretary Rear Marshal Trisno Hendradi, Commander of Presidential Guards Major General Suhartono, Special Staff of President Diaz Hendropriyono and Head of Protocol Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat Ari Setiawan.

The president is visiting Riyadh to honour an invitation from King Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud to attend the Arab-American Islamic Summit to be held, Sunday (May 21).

Vice Foreign Minister AM Fachir told the press at Hotel Continental Riyadh that the presidents participation in the summit is aimed to show that as the worlds largest Muslim country, Indonesia is consistent to give priority to "Ukhuwah Islamiyah" (Islamic brotherhood) for the sake of peoples unity.

"The peoples unity is one of the keys to handling problems particularly those related to terrorism which have victimized mostly people of the Islamic world," he said.
