Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo said he had taken an opportunity during fast-breaking gathering with heads of state institutions also for discussing national problems besides building brotherhood.

"Sometimes while breaking the fast we also discussed issues relating to our national problems," he said after attending a fas-breaking meeting at the residence of Oesman Sapta Odang, the chairman of the Regional Representatives Council here on Tuesday.

Jokowi as the president is also called said this gathering could not only be used for building Islamic brotherhood but also national brotherhood.

"So, we may hope we would also settle problems through concensus or dialog," he said.

Asked if he also planned to hold a fast-breaking meeting with political party leaders after he had done with heads of state institutions Jokowi said he would break the fast with all.

"With all. Tonight we will break the fast with community members. Yesterday we did with the chairmen of MPR (Peoples Consultative Assembly), DPR (House of Representatives). We have also broken the fast with the chairman of DPD (Regional Representatives Council). Well we will break the fast with all," he said.

President Jokowi attended the fast-breaking gathering at the resudence of Oesman Sapta Odang in the company of minister/state secretary Pratikno. He was welcomed upon arrival by the DPD chief and his family at 5.22pm.

Also seen attending the event were MPR chairman Zulkifli Hasan, House Speaker Setya Novanto and Chief Justice Hatta Ali.

Others included DPD deputy chairpersons Nono Sampono and Darmayanti Lubis, House Deputy Speakers Taufik Kurniawan and Agus Hermanto, MPR deputy chairmen EE Mangindaan, Hidayat Nur Wahid and Mahyudin.

It was also attended by Said Aqil Siradj, the general chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama, one of major Islamic organizations in the country, the general chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Sutrisno Bachir and former defense forces commander retired general Moeldoko.(*)
