Jakarta (ANTARA News) - AirAsia Group has again won Asias Leading Low-cost Airline award for the fifth consecutive year and bagged the Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew award for the second time at the 2017 World Travel Awards Asia-Australasia.

"This award is special to us since our continued efforts to become better are receiving recognition, and thus, we will always be committed to do even better," AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes remarked in a press release received here on Wednesday.

The award, based on the choice of professionals in the travel and tourism industry around the world, is a form of recognition to AirAsias commitment to excellence in service, Fernandes stated.

Fernandes noted that this year, AirAsia will focus on improving the check-in system, so that the travel process becomes easier and makes the journey even more enjoyable, with in-flight WiFi service.

According to New Straits Times, in winning Asias Leading Low-Cost Airline award, it saw AirAsia coming ahead of Air India Express, Firefly, GoAir, JetKonnect, JetStar Airways, Lucky Air, Nok Air, Scoot, SpiceJet, and West Air.

Asias largest low-cost carrier also won Asias Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew, beating nine other contenders: Air India Express, Firefly, GoAir, JetKonnect, Jetstar Airways, Lucky Air, Nok Air, SpiceJet, and West Air.

The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the Grand Kempinski Hotel in Shanghai, China on Tuesday.

Fernandes pointed out that ROKKI is AirAsias big push to make the in-flight experience better and their Santan in-flight food has gone from strength to strength.

He emphasized that AirAsia is excited to bring its unique products from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to the rest of Asia and the world.

"I also want to say a big thanks to my amazing cabin crew. It is so cool to get another cabin crew award, and it is all because of them. They are simply the best: special, warm, and real," he stated.

AirAsia President of North Asia Kathleen Tan noted that the airline was truly honored to receive the two accolades yet again.

"For 16 years, we have been heedful to our guests and refined our vision of low-cost travel," she remarked.

Tan added that AirAsia had constantly ensured that it only delivers services that epitomize the best of ASEAN hospitality.(*)
