"We will first focus on improving the OJKs efficiency as part of the effort to increase its performance," Wimboh Santoso said here on Friday.
The efficiency program will be conducted in all areas. OJK will focus on prioritizing its main tasks, including controlling and supervising the financial services industry.
"We will select supporting activities such as seminars. We must make optimum use of our resources to reduce operational costs," he said.
With regard to the reduction of contribution payments, Santoso said he would review it in relation to the achievement of OJKs mission and vision.
"It is possible to cut the amount of contribution payments," he stated.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution earlier said that Wimboh Santoso should reduce lending rates gradually.
The decrease in the lending interest rates could not be done radically, he said.
On Thursday evening, the House of Representatives (DPR) named Wimboh Santoso as chief commissioner of the Financial Service Authority (OJK) for the 2017-2022 term to replace Muliaman D. Hadad.

"We declare Santoso as a new chief commissioner of OJK," Chief of the House Commission XI Melchias Markus Mekeng stated while banging the gavel after the vote counting.
In total, 55 members of the House Commission XI cast vote in the election for the OJK chief commissioner. Wimboh won the election by the vast majority vote, outclassing banker Sigit who has spent 35 years of his time in the banking industry.
