Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government has saved Rp300 trillion (US$18.5 billion) in the State Budget from potential misappropriation by state actors.

"Earlier this year, we identified and saved Rp300 trillion, which we believed was prone to misuse, from the State Budget," Prabowo said in his annual state address at the Parliament Complex here on Friday.

The president announced that the achievement was made possible by reallocating the budget for overseas and domestic working trips, office stationery, and other budget items susceptible to corruption.

Emphasizing that the action has a constitutional basis, Prabowo stated that he will optimize his crusade against corruption and budget misappropriation at all levels of government ministries and institutions.

"This budget efficiency is mandated by Article 33, Paragraph 4 of the Indonesian Constitution. The Rp300 trillion fund is reallocated to more productive programmes that benefited the people directly," he remarked.
