Tasikmalaya, West Java (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has stressed on the importance of maintaining the bond of brotherhood within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

The president emphasized on the importance of maintaining the bond of brotherhood on the second day of his working visit to Tasikmalaya, West Java, on Saturday.

President Jokowi took time to visit the Miftahul Huda Islamic Boarding School to attend a gathering with the leaders and alumni of the boarding school at the Hamida building in Manonjaya Sub-district.

In his speech, the president said that Indonesia is a large country, with various cultural backgrounds and differences but still united within the framework of the NKRI.

On the occasion, the head of state remarked that the differences could become a strength if the people maintained unity and brotherhood in the NKRI.

After visiting the Miftahul Huda Islamic Boarding School, President Jokowi will head to Ciamis to distribute Smart Indonesian Cards and food supplements to the local students and will thereafter visit Darussalam and Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding Schools.

Before returning to Jakarta, the president will witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding among the Indonesian Air Force, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Tasikmalaya city government on optimizing the Wiriadinata Airport as a base for the Air Force in Tasikmalaya.(*)
