"All these achievements should not make us easily satisfied, as the challenges we are facing now and in the future are not small," President Jokowi said while speaking at the annual meeting of the Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR) here, Wednesday.
Indonesia is still facing poverty, injustice, and global economic uncertainty, the head of state remarked.
"We are also still facing problems of extremism, radicalism, and terrorism," he remarked.
However, of all those challenges, the most crucial is how to win the publics trust, he added.
"The publics trust is the soul and at the same time energy for state institutions in carrying out their respective tasks and functions," he noted.
In his speech, the president outlined the achievements and efforts made by several state institutions, such as the Constitutional Court (MK) and the Judicial Commission.
MK has won an award from the General Election Supervisory Agency for its success in addressing 55 cases, mostly concerning regional head election conflicts.
Indonesias MK has also been trusted to become the permanent secretary of the Asian Constitutional Courts.
Jokowi urged Indonesias state institutions to maintain mutual cooperation and go hand in hand to realize social justice for every Indonesian.
He also called on them to make the public as the axis of their soul and to listen to the peoples demands.
"Finally, in line with the spirit of Indonesias unity, I am confident, we will be able to carry out our constitutional tasks, toward independent and sovereign nationhood and statehood," he noted.
The MPR annual meeting is held a day ahead of the countrys Independence Day celebration on Aug 17.(*)
