Putussibau, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Floods have hit 10 sub-districts in Kapuas Hulu District, West Kalimantan Province, reaching a height of between 50 centimeters and 1 meter.

The 10 sub-districts include North Putussibau, South Putussibau, Bika, Kalis, Boyan Tanjung, Jongkong, Semitau, Embaloh Hilir, Bunut Hulu, and Rupinus, a local official, stated here on Monday.

The flooding, which was triggered by incessant heavy rains, caused Kapuas River to spill over its banks.

Tens of villages were affected by the floods. The floods submerged 17 villages in Kalis sub-district. In Jongkong sub-district, 14 villages were flooded; and in Bunut Hulu sub-district, six villages were affected by the flooding.
