Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Organizing Committee of the 2018 Asian Games (INASGOC) will continue to improve facilities and services at the Asian Games` media center, Indonesian Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi stated.

"If there are several shortcomings, it is quite normal, as the Asian Games will kick off on August 18, 2018. Hence, we will tap the opportunities during these coming months and the next year to make several improvements," the minister noted while furnishing details on the evaluation conducted by participants of the Asian Games` Media Forum held here on Nov 27-28, 2017.

The 18th Asian Games will be co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra, from December 18 to September 2, 2108.

Some 9,500 athletes, 3,500 media representatives, 2,500 personnel of the Asian Olympic Council, and 5,500 technical delegates from 45 countries will participate, cover, or be involved in the event.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the event, the organizing committee will conduct a test event prior to the opening of the Asian Games.

As many as 178 journalists from 22 Asian countries participated in the media forum. They visited several sports arenas including the Bung Karno Sport Stadium in Jakarta and Jakabering sport stadium in Palembang, which will serve as the venues for the Asian Games.

The organizing committee elaborated on the preparations made for the sports events, sports arenas, broadcast services for television and radio stations, accreditation procedures, accommodation, and transportation services.
