Infrastructure development is aimed at fostering a populist economy."Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) highlighted that infrastructure development of port, railway lines, and road networks remain a priority for the government, especially in the border areas.
"Infrastructure development is aimed at fostering a populist economy," he noted, in the Three National Pillar Coordination Meeting of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) at ICE BSD City, Tangerang district, Banten Province, on Saturday.
In front of PDIP cadres, he stated that the government continued to work to build logistics infrastructure in the border areas and remote villages.
According to Widodo, through infrastructure development, products of local community and micro businesses will have competitiveness.
He stated that the importance of infrastructure development in Eastern part of Indonesia is still a concern.
During the meeting, he also appreciated the struggle of Minister of Public Works and People`s Housing Muhammad Basuki Hadimulyono to build infrastructure in the Indonesian regions.
PDIP Chairman Megawati Sukarnoputri, Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla, the third Indonesian president BJ Habibie, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, as well as Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung also attended the meeting.
The PDIP Coordination Meeting, which, will be organized on Dec 16 and Dec 17, also included workshop and exhibition of products of micro small and medium enterprises.
