Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Ruling Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDI P) has condemned a black political practice that has been carried out by certain parties for achieving their political goal.

"We condemn such an act," the political party's secretary general, Hasto Kristiysnti, stated at the house of the party chief Megawati Soekarnoputri here on Saturday, in response to the decision of Abdullah Azwar Anas as the party's candidate for deputy governor of East Java.

Anas is the regent of Banyuwangi Regency in East Java Province.

He noted that Soekarnoputri and the party elites were all upset over Anas' decision to return the mandate as candidate for the provincial election to the party.

Therefore, in connection with it, the party elites gathered at the house of the party's chief in the evening to discuss the problem.

"Anas is a good person. He has done a lot for the people of Banyuwangi and has struggled to reach the position of a candidate for East Java deputy governor," he remarked, adding that PDIP would support Anas morally to uphold the truth.

Two unethical pictures of a man looking like Anas had been spread earlier, causing Anas, who is currently the district head of Banyuwangi, to withdraw his candidacy.

A total of 171 regions, including 17 provinces, in Indonesia will hold local elections simultaneously in June to elect district heads, city mayors, and provincial governors.
