Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave directives to top officials of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) at the TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Tuesday.

President Jokowi spoke during a routine leadership meeting of the TNI and Polri.

The head of state was accompanied by Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief Tito Karnavian, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Chief of the Presidential Staff Moeldoko.

The leadership meeting was themed "Based on Synergy, Solidity, and Professionalism, TNI and Polri Are Ready to Safeguard Simultaneous Regional Head Elections 2018 and General Elections 2019 To Guarantee National Development Sustainability."

Tjahjanto, in his opening remarks, noted that the leadership meeting was attended by 359 high-ranking officials comprising 180 from the TNI and 179 from Polri.
